Since June, we got to know a group of Pakistani refugees temporarily staying in Serdang Sri Kembangan, Malaysia. As the refugees do not have the right of residence in Malaysia, they cannot obtain formal employment and their children cannot go to public schools.
In order to provide the community with some form of assistance, volunteers from Singapore, and Ampang, Malaysia helped to set up a learning centre to provide education for these children of school age in July. They rented a place, bought furniture, and paid visits to potential students. We are glad to announce that the learning centre is now operational!
At the learning centre, our Light and Love Home T-shirt has become the children’s uniform. Classes at the centre are conducted in English and children are taught in different groups depending on their age, and through this, we hope to improve their English and build their character. We hope that through the learning centre, we can approach even more Pakistani refugees and provide learning opportunities for their children.
Here, we would also like to extend our appreciation to the Ampang Overseas Missionary Fellowship for donating their minivan. It is now more convenient for us to pick up students for classes, and others for fellowship and different activities.
