On the 30th of November 2013, we went to the International Volunteer Day’s Grand Finale Concert in support of our two volunteers, Hao Ying and Zhi Xing, who were nominated for the Youngest Volunteer Award.
As we entered the auditorium, we were pleasantly surprised to see Minister Lawrence Wong and leaders from various volunteer organizations cheering us on and welcoming us to the event.
During the awards ceremony, we watched videos detailing the journey of the nominees and how they are making a difference and changing lives. We were pleasantly surprised to find that there are only 3 nominees for that category, out of which, 2 are volunteers from Light and Love Charity! Though our volunteers did not receive the award, deep within us we were glad that our effort has been acknowledged and greatly appreciated.
Even greater reward awaited us! To our surprise, we appeared on Singapore Live TV news! We are grateful that our organisation has been publicly made known to the others. We had stood out from the crowd with our active participation and striking orange T-shirts!
